A Family that Laughs Together
I receive many requests to donate photography packages to local charities. Because I love giving back to the community and since I can accomplish this with my photography, I usually donate a one-hour photo session. Through these donations I have met some wonderful people! This past weekend I had the chance to meet Rob, Heather, their adorable children and their regal German Shepherd. Since Rob and Heather like to have pictures taken every two years of their family and it was about that time, they took a chance and bid on my photography package that was being auctioned at the American Lung Association's Gala. I couldn't have asked for a lovelier or happier family to photograph! I would say we were all winners of the ALA auction! Welcome to our outdoor family session. Thank you to Rob and Heather for their generous donation to ALA.
The best part of this photo session was the children - of course! With varying moods and varying degrees of shyness, working with children can be very difficult. Good thing I'm a big kid at heart with copious amounts of patience! Heather had mentioned that they preferred candid photographs of their kids rather than the posed ones which was great news for me. Photo sessions work best when the kids are very comfortable with their environment. If kids are allowed to run around and be themselves, the photographs will appear more natural.
Additionally, it was fun to learn that both kids were gymnasts which meant that they were fearless with oodles of energy! Both of which make for a fun photo session for me. This was first time that I had kids who climbed trees, jumped on a trampoline, and did cart wheels and handstands like mini-sized Olympians. In the end I learned the best photographs come from a family that can laugh and have fun together. I got the best, joyful smiles in this session (even from Bailey the German Shepherd).
