What is the perfect backdrop for a family session? A duck pond! This past weekend I had the honor of taking Stacy and Chadd's first family portraits. Determining the location is always the first (and most difficult) decision to make! Central Pennsylvania offers many different options that include parks, barns, hiking trails, and other landmarks. After consulting with Stacy we choose the Children's Lake in Boiling Springs. This seven acre lake is not only home to ducks, geese, and swans, it's also the perfect environment for trout. The beautiful gazebo, the crystal clear water, the little ducklings, and the weeping willow tree provided a gorgeous setting for our photo session
Even though this was Stacy and Chadd's first family portrait session, they were such naturals in front of the camera you couldn't tell! Even their Boston Terrier was ready for his close up. My approach to taking family portraits is often an organic process involving getting inspired by my surroundings. With the Radio Flyer wagon in tow, the family and I strolled around the lake looking for that inspiration. We didn't have to travel very far as the beautiful light reflecting off the sparkling water immediately grabbed my attention.
With a pre-teen, a six week old, and a Boston terrier, this could have been a challenging session. Instead I had a wonderful time with this beautiful family. I hope you enjoy the portraits as much as I do! Welcome to the portrait session of Stacy, Chadd, and their beautiful family!
