Zooming to One!

Zooming to One

One of the best parts of being a photographer is being included in a moment of someone's life, even if it's only for a snapshot. For some children I've been there from the very beginning - from the maternity photos to the newborn session to the one year party!  This weekend I caught up with the Yi family and their three adorable children. It was a special day in the Yi household. Tariq was celebrating a big milestone this weekend - his very first birthday

Funny how time has a way of zooming on by! I met Tariq and his family last December when he was only one month old. He was asleep the entire time and absolutely adorable. And now at a year old he is a crawling machine who is full of personality! I still can't believe he is one!

Azirah must have been thinking in the same vein as she decorated Tariq's party with the theme of Planes, Trains and Automobiles.  The centerpiece of the party, aside from adorable Tariq, was the sweets table. This table had every kid's (and adult's) sweet tooth dream - Rice Krispie treats, cookies, gum balls, cupcakes, cake pops, and cake. I have a huge sweet tooth and it was hard to keep walking by the table!

They say it takes a village to raise a child. I have to say the village that is raising Tariq is full of warmth, kindness, and delicious food! Each of the family members brought a covered dish to share and they were all amazing. Grandma was very concerned that I had enough to eat as I was taking photographs! I assured her that I did indeed get enough food.

Of course the part of the party everyone looks forward to is the cake! Since Tariq has severe food allergies, particularly to gluten and soy, Azirah bought a special cupcake from Betsy's Bakery for him to smash.

All in all a great time was had by everyone! Thanks again to Azirah and John for having me capture the party.

Below are some of the photos! Happy birthday, Tariq!
